Grape Hyacinth Lemonade

Grape Hyacinth Lemonade

Grape Hyacinth - Muscari armeniacum

In spring time, little clusters of grape hyacinths bloom like tiny fairy lanterns.

The flowers contain natural pigments, called anthocyanins which react with the acidity of lemon juice, turning your lemonade into the prettiest shade of pink with a light, grapeish floral flavor.

Pluck the tiny blossoms, removing all stems & green parts.

Use fresh flowers that are free of pollen, rinse well.

Steep the flowers in hot water for an hour to release a deep purple color.

Strain, pour the tea over some fresh lemonade, & watch it transform into something straight outta pixies kitchen.

Grape Hyacinths are edible.

True Hyacinths are toxic.

Similar names, very different plants.

Always be 1000% sure you identified the correct flower before foraging.
